Things To Keep In Mind
My Promise
What is said in consultations remains between the two of us. Unless permission is given, no personal information will be shared with any outside source. Little Willow Apothecary is a safe space where your safety is held in the highest regard.
The Work You Put in Is The Healing You Will Get
I provide the information and the herbs, but ultimately the healing is up to you. Consistency is key here. Herbs are allies, not pharmaceutical band-aids. If taken sporadically, healing is less likely to occur. You must be diligent in your own healing process. Take the herbs as prescribed, usually once or twice a day.
Herbs Are Not a Cure-All
It is important to understand that herbs are not a cure-all. They can be incredibly helpful and, in many cases, do bring the body back into balance. Sleep also brings the body back into balance. Eating healthy foods also brings the body back into balance. Breathing techniques help ground the body and mind. Drinking water helps to hydrate and nourish the body, which in turn helps the mind become sharper. All these elements of a healthy holistic lifestyle will be discussed in our consultations.
Herbal Energetics
Energetic classification has been used over the centuries throughout many different cultures to describe imbalances within the body. In the ancient Greek tradition, we have the elements fire, water, earth, and air. These manifest as qualities within the body: hot, dry, cold, and wet.
Fire: hot and dry
Air: Hot and wet
Earth: Cold and dry
Water: Cold and wet
Herbal energetics help to describe patterns that occur in the body which can lead to imbalances. Every person possesses every energetic quality to some degree, though it is common to see one energetic manifesting stronger than others.
We may see heat manifesting in the body as a fever. Cold can manifest in poor circulation, resulting in cold hands and feet. Dryness may manifest as a dry cough, and moisture or wetness can be observed in any tissue with excess mucus.
The tissue states of the body are also taken into account. These are:
- Excitation
- Depression
- Stagnation
- Atrophy
- Relaxation
- Constriction
During a consultation, the energetics of the body and the tissue states will be assessed in order to understand how to bring the body back into proper balance.
